'Miss Lady Bug'

Miss Lady Bug where have you been
I've missed your funny,toothless grin,
And your speckled back with dots galore
Supplied by nature's own coat store.

All summer long you found your way
Amongest the flowers, and the hay,
But now they rest, their nap is long
And you must miss their cheerful song.

When skies are blue your smile is wide
I'm sure that's when you're most alive,
And smile you must when doves fly proud
To cast away the darkest cloud.

But now the wings that let you fly
Are pressed upon your back so tight,
And you run about upon my desk
To find a spot for a good night's rest.

It's there for you when the time is right
To comfort you through the long, cold night,
Yet sleep's not what you have in mind
For you're dancing as if on a choresline.

Your little friends are huddled together
Lost in sleep, and counting sheep,
Yet you do not lie in dreamland like they
Instead you choose to stay out, and play.

~ I adore Lady Bugs. I think they are one
of natures sweetest creations. I wrote this
poem one evening after watching a Lady Bug
running about my desk while I was writing.
I instantly had to write about it!  ~
