Water pouring out from a rock
Is that an impossible thought?
It happened not once but twice
To Moses, seen by the Israelites
Wandering in the desert forty years
Only increased the Israelites fears
Had God abandoned them out there?
There was no water in sight anywhere
Moses cried out to God on their behalf
God said strike the rock with his staff
So Moses obeyed the Lord's command
Water came out according to His plan
Later, they were out of water again
Causing the Israelites to complain
Once more, Moses pleaded with God
This time he was to use Aaron's rod
God further said with the rod in his hand
Speak to the rock; but Moses struck it again
By striking it twice, water freely came forth
But Moses disobeyed, bringing God's wrath
Moses would not enter the Promised Land
Because he doubted the way of God's plan
There is a lesson that is clear for us to see
Obedience is not an option for you and me
