 'Inspiration In Thought'

'Canopy of Blue'

Night grows close, with darkness pressing
As birds all settle, without guessing,
While below all creatures of the night
Prepare themselves for sheer delight.

They wait in wonder, trembling freely
With thoughts of what the night will bring,
For the moon will cast her glow upon them
While they gather close to dance and sing.

The trees will lend a suttle breeze
To cool them as they laugh and tease,
For the night they love is theirs to hold
Until the dawn shines bright and bold.

And while they dance around with ease
I'll sit beneath my favourite tree,
I'll watch 'till daylight filters through
And reveals it's canopy of blue.

~ Sultry summer evenings are filled
with wonder when the time is taken
to enjoy them. I love these kind of
evenings--I wish there were more of
them, but at least I could capture my
feeling of them within this poem.  ~
