There are no regrets though I wish I had known
The hurt, the tears, the pain, the emptiness,
When two faithful hearts leave and say goodbye:
The days bring only desires to weep and die
To blot the moon and stars from the sky!
Then you know many dreams will never be real
Nor promises you thought were made of steel
That your love nest will break and never heal:
The days of spring will never bloom sublime
Nor the moon, nor the song, that made you rhyme!
But I love no less and wish only to bless
For love is not if broken hearts can change
Or dies when its leaves are scattered by the wind:
This promise the heart and soul cannot rescind
Its a star in the sky forever pinned!
For love a thing of heavenly nature is
A fire divine that warms the human heart
Like the sun the planets and the earth:
Though it no longer brings sweet joy or mirth
It leaves sweet fragrance on the ashes of yesterday…
