 Grandpa

Listening to the stories you told us of long ago,
Of how it was back in the good 'ol days.
You told us of how you had to pick cotton
And how the women had to clean all day.

You told us about the first job you got,
And how you ended up at the mill.
You taught us right from wrong,
You even taught us about the Lord.

I love hearing about all the different models
Of tractors including your favorite, the John Deere.
Grandpa, I even remember the times where
You would bounce me on your knee.

I remember the times when you would
Wrap my leg up in an ace bandage.
I even remember how you would fix
My blanket on the couch and wrap me up in it.

So many great stories, so many great memories,
I'll always cherish each and every moment we shared.
When you and grandma would pick and play,
It always put a smile on my face.

The years that it snowed were just wonderful,
We would go out and dig up a bucket up snow.
Grandpa, you would even put it in a cup for us
With the choice of our favorite food coloring.

Yeah, those are the good 'ol days.
I love you grandpa and I always will.
I hold you dear to my heart like you hold
Me dear to your heart.
