Poetry For Everyday People

The Rebuilding Of Us

Things slip away,
people slip away,
and we try
to hold on, get
back, what we had,
what we worked
so hard for,

sometimes
my insides feel
as if a house
blown away by a hurricane,
and somehow
I must rebuild,

gather up memories,
remember where I came from,
what brought me here,
water the seeds of strength,
chop down the weeds
of anxiety,

read, write, meditate,
work out, dig deep,
let love shine,
find my way again,
maybe better, maybe
this time forever,

sanity wondering,
as I fight to keep
a life time alive.
