Last night I had a visit
Whilst in dreamland I slept
My dog Tess wakened me
As across the carpet she crept
I felt her presence at my bedside
And lay there thinking she wants to go out
I was just about to get up out of bed
Then I remembered she's dead
It's almost a year now since she left
My heart felt heavy with sorrows
At that moment she lay her head on my chest
And licked me right on the top of my nose
I knew then she'd come for a visit
To remember the time she was here
Our dog Tess
Who passed away this time last year
