A Hope for Peace
During this Christmas season I've been reflective and lost in thought;
I wonder what the world would be like if there were no wars at all.
In this fantasy, mankind has laid down his weapons of destruction.
On Christmas I have a Hope for Peace.
I think of John Lennon's “Imagine” and am wowed by it's message;
With simple words of love and peace, yes there are dreamers still.
But why do dreamers have to be dismissed without a passing thought?
On Christmas I have a Hope for Peace.
Let us start making this dream a possibility by beginning within yourself.
Make peace with your own body, your mind, and your soul;
Deal gently with all that is within you, let healing strengthen and enable you.
On Christmas I have a Hope for Peace.
Then start working outwards, reach out to your family and your friends.
Look at that crazy old man next door, then follow the flow downstream in your life.
With each attempt, try to establish a community of unity within our souls.
On Christmas I have a Hope for Peace.
We watch the news and see the ghostly faces of our battles and wars.
We think that their blood isn't on our hands; What in the world can we do?
But peace in your hands every day, in every relationship, in every moment.
On Christmas I have a Hope for Peace.
Seek out that place within your heart that wants a world that is different.
Operate then through the power within your soul to navigate this twisted road.
Now sow the seeds of peace, then water; this crop is destined to grow.
On Christmas I have a Hope for Peace.
As you can see, this plan depends on millions of daring people, each with this dream.
Reach out to yourself and to others as we seek out harmony within our world.
Our society needs our hard work, our hearts, our healing, and our love.
On Christmas I have a Hope for Peace.
