Of the beautiful love we shared so true,
Of days so bright and nights so sweet,
When happiness filled our tender hearts,
When dreams we shared discovered life,
And bloomed like flowers in the spring…
Sometimes awake in quiet nights
The gentle shadows and silhouettes
Bring back a memory of you and me:
Of times we came together aching
With a need for each other larger
Than hunger, thirst or passion sweet…
Today it hurts to think of you
And my heart unheals and bleeds again-
Like rain that floods the ground,
These thoughts of you keep coming on:
The waters rise and slowly drown
The bit of life that's left in me…
Oh, the distance that you keep,
The long unbreaking silence too,
How could I ever love again
How could I ever dream again
When my love is kept forever still
In the cold and misty rings of time…
Today it hurts to think of you,
For a time and place no more to be,
And tears of sadness break away
The way they did for you that day,
But when I come I'll bring for you
The flowers of each special day…
It will be cold, it will be dark,
It will be filled with déjà vu:
Our pining souls and sweet embrace
Will gently then go through and through
And if we ever say good bye
You come with me, or I go with you…
