Poetry that thinks out loud

Nothing to gain (edited)

Heroic people have walked our lands.
From legends to those who fought on the sands.
Legends we pass to each generation.
Looking back in sheer admiration.
Fighting for what this world should be.
Yet still the world has yet to see.
People have no respect of life or time.
Continue to kill live the life of crime.
In a generation where children carry a gun.
Talk of how fighting will never be done.
You hurt my people and I'll hurt yours.
See killing as another of their daily chores.
How can anyone see murder this way.
Get used to it because it happens everyday.
They have no aims or goals.
Just a cycle of misguided souls.
As strange as it sounds their still innocent.
This is purely the life they were sent.
Not by a god or any of that kind.
By evil people corrupting their mind.
Do as your told or you too will die.
Kill them or in the ground you'll lie
The chance of survival runs very thin.
By anyone's standards live a life of sin.
Kill so they can live in return.
Taught to fight for what they earn.
As long as there is nothing to gain.
Violence in their lives will always remain.
