 The Forerunner
John the Baptist

dove line

He was born six months before the child Jesus
The angel Gabriel announced his birth to the father
Destined by the Lord to become a forerunner
He was an only child without a sister or brother

dove line

Rumors tell that he had to go into hiding
To avoid death by Herod he became a hermit
The river Jordan was very special to him
To baptise them he invited followers into it

dove line

His name is quite familiar to many of us
His message of repentance was not rejected
He roamed through the desert as a recluse
The final end of his life was very unexpected

dove line

This question is for you my poetry readers
What's the name of the man in the picture?
A young girl's wish doomed him to death
His mission in life was that of a preacher

The answer is: John the Baptist

Thank you very much my dearest friends!
I'm blessed by your many correct answers
It was lots of fun to share this poem
I pray for your continued prosperity!
