Poetry that thinks out loud

Imagine war.

Imagine the thought of going to war.
Loved ones you may see no more.
Helpless to keep them safe from harm.
Holding wishes to a lucky charm.

A world war has come about.
Through your mind thoughts of doubt.
Not knowing how long you'll be gone.
Asking forgiveness for all you done wrong.

Hoping your family last the trauma to come.
begging a god that no harm will be done.
How must it feel to shake with fear.
Knowing if you get back they may not be here.

Watching people die before your feet.
Fighting on what was once a happy street.
Injured people screaming for attention.
Walking a nightmare like another dimension.

Our grandfathers have felt this fear.
Our freedom cost many a tear.

It seems people are calling for war.
Asking evil to come to their door.
Why oh why would you ask for more.
Do they realize what they will endure.
