Away Out The BackThere still are ruins of places Where long ago some made a stand- Hoping that they'd make a life So far out back upon the land- Where the silence drove a sain mind mad Caused some to lose their will- So far away out the back Some of these places they would still- Away out from any where at all Souls ventured so very long ago- In order to one day have a living there Out into places they did not know- They back then gave their hearts and souls To make an impossible dream come true- Away away out the back of any where at all Where only the hottest winds they blew- Where the rain it very seldom came And if it did it was not for very long- At very best maybe only ever once a year Where the sun was hot and silence sang it's song- Some souls they died of loneliness And of long days of hard work as well- Only to find it all a waste of time Most left knowing they could never sell- Like monuments of those now gone Remain to tell of way back when- Some ever so very long ago in time Ventured away out the back , back then- The memories are still to be found around Of the efforts of those back then to dare- To go away out the back so long ago Way further out the back from any where- Terrence Michael Sutton copyright 2009 Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
