 Back in the Day

Every so often my mind goes astray,
and takes me happily to back in the day.
Back in the day when I was a strong young man,
back in the day when the world had a plan.

Back in the day when Elvis was King,
back in the day when the Beatles did sing.
Back in the day when gas was real cheap,
back in the day when I drove that old heap.

Back in the day when school was real fun,
back in the day when drive inns were run.
Back in the day when a dime bought a pop,
back in the day of yoyo's and tops.

Back in the day when yard darts were in,
back in the day when kites sailed the wind.
Back in the day of rivers and rafts,
back in the day of projects and crafts.

Back in the day of CB's and scanners.
back in the day of etiquette and manners,
Back in the day when you could say praise to GOD,
and others wouldn't criticize they'd just smile and nod.
