 It's Too Quiet

Life is moving fairly smoothly as we are approaching our vacation.
Daughters got a job, everyone is healthy, peace and joy rains down from heaven.
Life moves at a snails pace allowing us to enjoy the ride;
But it's quiet, it's too quiet.

The vote for the union representation will take place while we're gone.
My prostate has relaxed and I can enjoy peeing once again.
A week of vacation, full of words pouring on the page;
But it's quiet, it's too quiet.

The cats will be under Moms care while we are out to sea.
A final day full of packing getting ready to head out the door.
Sherrie is feeling good, looking even better;
But it's quiet, it's too quiet.

Tomorrow will be the day of preparation for the trip.
Somehow it doesn't seem real yet, it's like someone else's fantasy.
Early Saturday morning we will make our way to our ship;
But it's quiet, it's too quiet.

It's not that I mind peace;
I don't dislike stillness;
I never said I hated order;
But it's quiet.

It's too quiet.

I only hear crickets, along with your beating heart.
The uneasy peace that rests in my soul;
Silence is golden without a doubt;
But it's quiet.

It's too quiet.
