 Spilt Milk
(inspired by the film “Milk”, about the first openly gay politician)

A sea of lights
Flowed down the hill
Of San Francisco
Silent rivers
Of tears
Wet the streets
While blood ran cold
And though
Death was powerful
Time marches on
And forgets
In the minds of the young
Ignorance is reborn

Don't Cry over spilt Milk

But in San Francisco
The phrase
Has deeper meaning
For those who were
Riveted that day
To radio
And tv
The death of their
Own champion.
