Snowstorm (with Valentines note)Weather warnings all rang out Schools were closed on Friday Kids excited and danced about Glad for snow coming that day The stores were filled the day before As shoppers prepared for the storm Checking what they needed once more To remain healthy, alive, and warm Driving can be a challenge in the snow Safety and patience becomes the key Leave room for city crews and know They work long hours for you and me If you are not able to clean your driveway Don't be afraid to ask someone who can Most people are willing to help in any way Looking out for needs of their fellow man Consider a corresponding analogy with me Perhaps your life is raging like a blizzard Deep drifts clutter your mind to clearly see Because your path has become haphazard You are stuck in a rut, wanting a way out Without any success, spinning your wheels Wandering aimlessly and filled with doubt Seeking someone who knows how you feel My friend, if God is not in the driver's seat You will continue to swerve out of control His steering wheel power nothing can defeat Find refuge before your battles take their toll Just say a prayer telling God you cannot win Acknowledge your sin and open up your heart Putting your faith in Him alone and let Him in He will forgive and cleanse you in every part No greater gift will be given or received today Then to say, "Jesus I want You as my Valentine I need Your matchless love, show me the way" He will reach out and say, "Child you are Mine" © Carol Salter 2/14/09 Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
