 Crawling Out of my Shell

I am sitting in meditation and I begin to settle down,
Descending the stairway of my spinal cord into my body.
Sweeping over me comes a calming presence and peace,
Entering the present moment when crawling out of my shell.

What is the lure that draws me back into my head again?
The slightest ripple, and I'm back up the spine in a flash!
Seeking what? I wonder what is the attraction and lure?
I'm escaping the present moment when crawling into of my shell.

Is the present such a terrifying place that I cower in my cranium?
I know the wave of peace that flows over my life when fully living.
Escape from the prison cell of my head into the glorious freedom,
Entering the present moment when crawling out of my shell.

I will question myself each time I find myself hiding in my head.
Seeking the peace of presence has become my lifelong quest.
Standing on the threshold of self discovery, I look into my heart;
Entering the present moment when crawling out of my shell.
