COLORS OF PEACE

COLORS OF PEACE

The sky is crystal blue with white cotton balls of clouds
drifting off to tomorrow
In a lush green meadow a brook bubbles its way downwards
to a place called Peaceful
The sun is sprinkling gold and yellow rays over wild purple alfalfa

A gray rabbit is munching on a large chartreuse leaf of lettuce
A red bird sits on a brown fence post looking
for lunch for babies at home in their nest
while a gray dove feed on the seeds of the different grasses on the ground

All is at peace - or - is it

Something is slithering
in the grass that is waving in the breeze
All at once the crickets stop their chirping
The birds stop their singing - rabbits stop their munching

Fear spreads  over the dale
An eagle descend down from the sky and faster than a wink
He sores back into the heaven
with a large black snake in his beak

Why did the eagle pick the snake instead of the rabbit or birds
Did his enjoy the rush of catching something so deadly
Could it be something as simple
as the snake taste better to the eagle

Fear is hard for us to understand
Some things that we should be afraid of we are
While some things that are deadly
we rush to grab in our hands

Unlike the eagle we have a mind to think and to reason
We have understanding
and wisdom of good and evil
 not just instinct

The colors of peace are different to
each one of God's creatures
Each of our fears are different - fear of the unknown is a real fear
Not knowing what will happen makes us uneasy and untrusting

I don't know what tomorrow brings - but I am thankful
I know the One who holds tomorrow
He holds me and mine in His hand
He quiets my fears and give to me
a great peace in my peaceful meadow called home

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep:
for thou, O LORD, only makes me dwell in safety.
