 The Poetry of David Hart

All Clapped Out by David Hart

All Clapped Out by David Hart
Rant and rave and then
One must assuredly pave.
Pave a new meaningful life.
One without any stressful strife.

Options, Actions, White paint and Autumn Leaves
To boost or not to boost, that is the
Question these days.
Wherever you run to hide,
You will always be with yourself.
Abracadabra and you fly some where else
You are always with you however self

Honest or not quite honest
Beware the suit and tie thieves
They're every where these days

Nomads in muckalucks, nomads in pumps and jeans
Namads slim and tall and narrow and thick
Somehow they just don't have the monetary means

A jagged alley oops to little papers gray, black,
And white--loosing value like I'm loosing my sight

Putty, a glass of cutty, gosh she looks a bit ruddy
Left over bags in the fridge
Better eat the one that been in the longest
Or it might spoil

Clay pigeons gloriously fly
Poor pigeons hardly get by
Poor people they will now certainly cry.

Slices of bread, a slice from you heart
A slice from your soul
Trying to just make a meritorious start.
Eating ice cream and a cherry tart
Might now be the time to nurse your heart.

Bank accounts, stock accounts and bank drafts
These can give you a cold if you don't act fast

Cover it up, kill it, push it away, or sell it
Hopefully, tomorrow will bring a better day

A trillion here, a billion there, millions might
do the trick, or, zillions might be the treat
What's it's worth?  Achtung, hooray!
Line your bird cage with a World War II German Mark
Tomorrow's World War III with most assuredly
Break your heart with your bird in the caged
Lined with the American Dollar

Clay and putty, rice and beans
Government cheese has a nice future
It seems.

Lookin' for a meal.  Hookin' for a deal.
Spatchcock yourself in a new promising field
Or the daybreak cock
Will now be your clock.

Do nice and no one cares
Do it bad and you've got
A books deals and TV
And you've nice clothes to wear

Sit in the sour stench
of a casino chair.
Throw some dice
And the odds aren't fair
Win once, loose twice
Win twice, and you'll
Loose thrice.

Games of chance and games of change
Always tricky to perfectly arrange.
