Earth Shattering Acclaim
The ticker tape parade rains down on my head.
This illusion of grandeur increases to a crescendo;
My family and friends give me a heroes welcome.
My poems have brought peace to the earth;
The divisions of mankind have healed.
I am proclaimed the Poet Laureate of Cherokee Forest.
I begin my tour reading my works to my adoring fans;
I have achieved earth shattering acclaim.
I awaken from this dream as a poet of absolutely no reputation.
Still pounding out my messages to the world on the keyboard,
But usually the world doesn't desire to hear my words.
Satisfied with their lives, not desiring reading of the beauty;
Thought provoking poems have no place in their world.
A few here and there will be touched by my words;
I will certainly be changed myself, this is enough for me.
But I never will achieve earth shattering acclaim.
