FAST & HEAVY - II

Rock really helped me in my final year project
Without music my university days would be wrecked
Hideously loud and rude our speakers often blared
Down across, our neighbours sometimes glared
Of course I do have a softer and wider range
Such as the Scorpions' "Winds of change"
Or "Miss you in a heartbeat" by Def Leppard
Soft rock and sometimes the odd funky ballad
I also love Bryan Adams' voice soft and rasping
It reportedly had girls breathless and gasping

I am sometimes told that rock is dead
But there are so many genres widespread
People still enjoy thoughtful lyrics with weight
There's a song for every mood, every mental state
Music lovers are not interested in rock stars
Who cares if they are in mansions or trendy bars
True, they have a glamorous life
But it's like walking on the edge of a knife
Today you could be a well known name
Tomorrow you could be without fortune or fame
Huge success leads to huge egos on the run
Which goes on to cause friction with everyone
Many big bands swallowed by sands of time
Dying lonely and pitiful, without a dime
Another factor would be addiction to booze
Along with weed, drugs and substance abuse
Many a rockstar has ODed and then died
Some wrecked their lives and committed suicide

But I feel that as long as the earth is revolving
Music always has and will keep on evolving
There will be many more memorable "Highway Stars"
Many more like me, playing their air guitars
