 The Springbok Cries
        The Springboks Cries

Around the time of Easter eggs
And Spring brings new flower beds
A birthday does arise
A day when the springbok cries
Cries of mirth and much merriment
For it is day of celebration and excitement
When drink does flow and cigarettes are lit
A day when no ones gives a $h!t
From African dawns to dusk filled skies
It's a day the springbok cries

Her tears they say created the Olifant's River
But they were not tears of sadness but of laughter
They say her black hair was the curtain of the night
And the moon was her skin a pale moonlight
Amongst the tribes and people of South Africa
Her name was known as Jessica
They say her name spread with the migrating birds
And amongst the many migrating herds
It's a name that never breaks or bends or lies
And it's heard in the springboks cries

So on this day, March the 30th
I send to her, a birthday kiss
And although she can not be here
I will raise my pint, and drink a beer
To the most wonderful and lovely lady
Whose fun, sexy and a little crazy
But all in a lovely way
So let your bard wish you, A Happy Birthday
I hope it brings a lovely surprise
Hearing hilarity in the springboks cries.

~~ For Jess, as promised, you're missed here in London .. see you at the World Cup 2010 ~~~
