 A shallowness of minds. (M.P.Bridger)
Opened-petalled kisses
Bring shuddering replies
Trembling upwards
From the deepest well of passion.
Bursting out into the darkened room.
Cries of mutual congratulation
Ebb away to be replaced
With silent vigils of espionage.
She, secretly listening to his heart beating.
He, to her faked sighs of soft slumber.
Body warmth drains away
Replaced by the coldness of detachment.
So while she thinks of a way
To get him out before her bus to work
He wonders in the darkness
Where he put his socks.
