1980 - ALBANY, GA...

I WENT TO SEE A LIFE LONG FRIEND NAMED SUE, SHE WAS GETTING MARRIED...
I SETTLED IN NICELY TO HER HOME AND THOUGHT I WOULD GO OUTSIDE AND TALK TO THE NEIGHBOR HE WAS CUTTING HIS GRASS, I WALKED UP TO HIM SO I COULD SAY HELLO WHICH I DID, AND HE SHUT OFF HIS LAWNMOWER AND WALKED INTO HIS HOUSE...

I WALKED BACK TO SUE'S PLACE AND SAID WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR NEIGHBOR? SHE SAID WHY SO I TOLD HER WHAT HAPPENED...

I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS, SHE SAID BLACK PEOPLE DO NOT TALK TO WHITE PEOPLE, THEY ARE AFRAID...
I WAS VERY SAD INSIDE, AND I WAS NOT LIKING WHERE THE PLANE TOOK ME TOO...

THE NEXT DAY WE WENT TO HER BAR WERE SHE WAS HAVING THE REHEARSAL DINNER, SHOCKED I BECAME AGAIN
HER FUTURE FATHER IN LAW CALLED A YOUNG MAN "BOY" AND WHEN HE DID NOT REPLY HE YELLED OUT THE N - WORD! THAT WAS IT FOR ME, I WALKED UP TO THAT REDNECK, LOOKING UP TO HIM AND TOLD HIM IN SHORT FORM, WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE TALKING TO A PERSON LIKE THIS?

THAT MAN WAS SHOCKED THOSE WORDS CAME OUT OF MY MOUTH, AND I DID NOT STOP THERE, I SWORE AT THAT MAN, USING YOUR TYPICAL F - WORDS STRAIGHT TO HIS FACE!!! I WAS PULLED AWAY FROM HIM AS HE SAID TO ME YOUR NOT IN NEW YORK, AND PEOPLE LIKE YOU WILL GET SHOT DOWN HERE, BAD THING TO SAY TO ME...

I TOLD HIM TO GO FLY HIS KITE WHERE THE SUN DOES NOT SHINE, THAT'S ALL I REMEMBER, BESIDES GETTING A THANK YOU FROM THAT YOUNG MAN WHO I QUICKLY BECAME FRIENDS WITH...

AS YOU COULD OF GUESSED IT, THE MARRIAGE DID NOT LAST LONG, THAT WAS THE BEST NEWS I HEARD FROM ALBANY, GA...
