It all returns that goes away
That changes state and disappears
It is the nature of the universe
To keep the flow of life intact…
The leaves that fall from trees return,
As do the clouds, the snow and the rain;
And distant stars themselves come back
Like the feet and faces of the past…
And so the dreams that fade away,
That break from the branches of the heart,
Will shine again in that returning day
And bloom like flowers in the spring...
Don't say these limbs that feeble die,
Are lost forever in the porous dark,
Through whirlwinds of time and space
The eternal spirit shapes the dust again…
So when the earth around me clings
And the sky accepts my parting breath
I pray no tears nor flowers bring
But godspeed bid and wait for me…
Who knows what joys are yet to be
Between the now and then we see,
Perhaps it is the only reality
And this but sheer obscenity…
It all returns that goes away
That changes state and disappears
It is the nature of the universe
To keep the flow of life intact…
