 Change
I used to think Change was strange
It made me shiver and go deranged
‘What if?' and ‘what will?'
How and what will I feel?

Safe and comfortable in my zone
Knowing boundaries where to roam
Like a pawn in a game of chess
Heading into certain death

Shrewd and clever, never losing face
As the Queen now stands in its place
I feel like the lucky pawn
Embracing a new dawn

Knowing that change can be beneficial
And that change is essential
I still feel sorrow for yesterdays
And often feel in a daze

But that feeling is mixed with excitement
A feeling of achievement
I'm that pawn heading towards salvation
About to embrace the celebration

Triumphant, victorious, changing the game
It's boring if things stay the same
Change is here, change is good
Although at times misunderstood.
