Poetic Verses
In Spite of This Shifting
It seems there are things that once widely embraced
These days are affirmed by so few
But in spite of this shifting, most people hold fast
And are thankful to God that they do.
They believe in the beauty and power of love
And that the Lord dwells up Heaven above.
They believe there is trust in the heart of a child
And that a sworn promise should not be defiled.
They believe one should speak when there's something to say
And that only cowards die slowly each day.
They believe one should never give up on romance
And that love can happen even at the first glance.
They believe it is tragic to abandon a dream
And that one should never try swimming upstream.
They believe that in hard times one must look ahead
And that able-bodied should work for their bread.
They believe that the best things in life bear no cost
And that it's heartbreaking when loved ones are lost.
So, for all these things that most people believe
When considered, is easy to see
That if more would affirm and embrace them as well
A much better world this would be.
