True guilt is an indicator of sin
Revealed by the Spirit within We all fall short of God's glory There is great hope at Calvary Jesus died for our sin, paying the price By faith, when we accept His sacrifice We are forgiven and guilt is forever gone Through the blood of Jesus, God's Son False guilt has no solid foundation It is from self inflicted condemnation Pain from past mistakes or failures Satan will often use as undue torture We can take ourselves too seriously Dwelling on past failures repeatedly To seek and accept God's forgiveness Brings inner healing and wholeness Distinguishing the two types of guilt Involves the way that our faith is built True guilt is intensified by His Word False guilt is diminished by truth heard Conviction draws us to what is right Revealed by the Holy Spirit's insight Confession brings us into submission Restoration to fulfill His commission Romans 8:1-2 (NIV) 1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. © Carol Salter 7/12/09 NOTE: This poem was partly based on an article I recently read, which touched me in a special way, so I cannot take full credit for it. Some of the thoughts expressed, however, are from my own experience. Vote for this poem
