When The Reaper Comes A-Knocking...
The reaper knocked upon my door,
But I would not let him in.
Cos I had two brain tumours removed!
And I wasn't giving in.
So yes, I've worn the t-shirt
And defeated death then, not once but twice,
And believe you me I know...
It wasn't very nice.
So I chased the reaper away,
Cos I wasn't ready to die,
For when it comes too close...!
It makes you want to try...
Try to stay alive…
And keep the reaper at bay,
It's not hard to keep him there,
If you want to live another day!
Then he returned to my door,
Two times more he tried,
And two times more I chased him,
My determination never died!
I never wavered in my strength,
My constitution never died,
And even when I was so ill…!
That at night I cried…
Still I didn't give in to him,
Still I stayed firm and strong,
Still I fought with every breath,
He didn't linger very long!
I never gave up on God,
And he didn't give up on me,
So I count my blessings every day,
For every day that I see!
I've stared death right in the face,
Not once, but four times you see,
And I survived cos I really tried
The reaper wasn't going to get me!
So don't take life for granted,
For when it stares 'you' in the face
You'll want to stay, and you'll really pray
To stay here in this place!
People tell me I'm unlucky,
To have this body fall apart,
But to them I say I'm very lucky,
For God didn't let me depart!
No matter the problems I have to bear,
No matter the pain in my life,
I'd rather suffer and be alive,
It's really worth the heartache and strife.
So when you think you can't take any more,
Remember the story I tell,
Rather than be dead and gone,
I'd rather suffer a life of pain and hell!
Now I'm not condescending,
For I'm not that way you see...
But I know with all certainty
Death wouldn't do for me.
So when you feel life's too much
Don't you ever give in!
There's light at the end of the tunnel,
And believe me you will win!
The Moral Of This Story is…
You Never Know What You Have…
Until You Almost Lose It!
Fight The Good Fight!
