We yearn for love unabated
Untainted, innocent, overflowing and unreserved
It is the very essence of our souls and being
As rivers must freely flow
Remember the innocence of a time long ago
The mountains we would traverse
The lengths we would go
To love and feel love
Time passed, mountains crumbled beneath us
In our noblest of moments
Valleys consumed our innocence
Each climb thereafter hardening our souls
We climbed each mountain the yearning still there
Yet each ascent unknowingly succumbing to less soul
We called on God to make the next peak
Yet we fell hard again joining the meek
Love turned some how
Away from our hearts
Walls created where none should have been at all
What then have we become, beings of love, not at all
We shed many tears, trust eroded, fears not overcome
The common yearning once shared not even felt
Circumstances not understood, turned to blame
The even idea of love consumed by flame
How then could such a common desire
Be turned on each other with thoughts so gone sour
No doubt to ensure that pain felt returned
Yet returned it did like a double edged sword
Then as the seasons refresh and the days began anew
Even in the deepest of valleys the sunshine views
The desires of the heart, the common warmth
Faces turned toward
Tired and warn, one day we turn
Towards the ray of sunshine and warmth
Not expected, but warming our being
Towards it we are drawn, back to the beginning
Do we climb again, weathered, tired, and torn
Take the chance on our hearts desire
To not would perhaps be a life of want not fulfilled
To take a chance on love, is there no other gift desired
