Today We Said Goodbye
No more aches of yesteryear
Of pain unseen of what appears
To streak down cheek as if it rained
Upon my face our heart must train
No more fears of loneliness
Will pound our soul and tenderness
Will be no more a passing thought
Today this fear our courage caught
No more lack of hugs will play
On strings on soul broken today
As today we say goodbye
Fulfilled alone as hard we tried
Tired we are, today we turn
A page reread, this book we'll burn
To set ablaze the past and learn
Of what escapes we now discern
Vacation brief maybe forever
What brings to mind what time will sever
A brief escape where here we come
To put to bed of whats become
An effort ours, a war not won
