 Decency's Child

Here comes Lenny with holes in his socks and holes in his shoes
But holes are needed in some things, like tires and wedding rings
He wanted to know if we had heard the cataclysmic news
That was being shouted down the streets and the avenues
Decency was found beaten and dead in a ditch somewhere....

A friend of his had told him it was done by a roving band
Of tattooed, pierced guys and a girl with a stud in her tongue
They were spotted an hour ago tormenting an elderly man
These were the dregs of society we just couldn't understand
Hadn't they learned from parents or church to give a care....

At least Skeezix had managed to climb the golden stairs
Breaking loose from the sick sad silly world of mundanity
And had the villain of the court thrown any desks or chairs
Was he throwing tantrums and fits and putting on airs
Would someone be sure and tell him Skeezix had transcended....

Maybe decency was dead but Decency's child Skeezix stood tall
Leaping to a whole other level away from villainous things
We all said one time that for her we would go to the wall
And I was beaming to know she had received her clarion call
It was high time she climbed to where 'he' had always intended....
