 Cicadas in Love
Driving home last night, their song was unmistakable;
Ringing out from tree to tree, mating calls into the night.
Looking for love, singing their distinctive song so loud;
Their timbals expand and contract, singing out for a female.
Their song can be up to 120 decibels, determined to be heard;
Cicadas in love, modulating their song for that personal touch.
Movement in their positions on the tree makes each unique;
Buzzing from their depths, echoing within their hollow abdomen.
Reaching out to the female with their song of desire and love;
Legendary for their music and their life in the Asian world.
The cicada leaving behind their shell after transformation;
Looking for a mate, buzzing away, they are cicadas in love.
