She waited for the phone to ring for so long
While listening to her lonely bird's sweet song,
Her heart heavily laden in bitter sweet sorrow
Her lover gone with promise to return by tomorrow.
The sun went down when twilight came to call
Still no ringing from the phone hanging on the wall,
The moon was high as she gazed out her window's view
Silvery shadows passing clouds had lost their hue.
Amidst stars trying to sparkle with a diamond glow
A shooting beam crossed as if from an arrow's bow,
Her heart sank as she watched the others slowly dim
Early light peering through darkness, still no ring.
Morning sunlight rising brings a new day
Warming the earth and all its creatures at play,
On the wall the sound of ringing can be heard
~ No one to hear ~
except her `sad singing`lonely bird.
