 Root Canal

Woke up one night with an earache
Throbbing into a painful toothache
After getting up, taking two Tylenol
I finally was able to sleep after all

I made an appointment with my ENT
Must be ear drainage he could not see
Gave me a cortisone shot just the same
With an antibiotic for sinuses inflamed

Earache went away but toothache did not
God's timing led to the solution I sought
Prior scheduled visit for unrelated filling
Got me there for other pain I was feeling

After a tapping and probing examination
An x-ray confirmed my tooth infection
Same antibiotic reduced the pain overall
Until the specialist did the root canal

The root canal itself was without pain
Lasting an hour, my jaws were strained
Just by partially closing my mouth too
Helped while she switched her tools

They drill a hole in the top of the tooth
In order to clean the canals to the root
Fine wire like a pin poked down through
With a microscope that guides her too

Jesus performed the ultimate root canal
Nailed to the cross, blood shed for all
He sees hearts through His microscope
His cleansing of sin is our only hope

If the Holy Spirit does not live within
He may prick your heart wanting in
Do not ignore His soft, gentle nudges
Receive today His gift of forgiveness

2 Corinthians 6:2 (NIV)
For he says, "In the time of my favor I heard you, and
in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you, now is
the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation.
