Walkway through my thoughts

MELODY

Melody
Bitter sweet this day
Cold as ice cream
On a December day
Flickering sun
On and off
Like the changing
Of traffic lights
Spring has come
And it has left again
Sleet
As big as a hurling ball
Shattering
The bird sounds
As they sing
A melody of
O' where is spring
New born lambs
In the field
All the sounds
And sights
Of spring
But the weather
Is of rain, rain
And more rain
Amber weather warnings
On this day in April
Twenty sixteen
Clouds angry
Sounds of thunder
Like a loin roaring
Lighting lights up
The sky
Like the fire works
On New Years Eve
My mind has wandered
To the kitchen
Sitting there on the old dresser
Is the gramophone
I take down the old record
And play it
The late
Count John McCormack
His voice divine
Singing
It's a long way to Tipperary
For a few minutes
Lost in the sound
Of long ago
I remember
Mammy and Daddy
So often singing
The same song
Around the kitchen
In the lamp light
Way back in the
Late fifties
Back to reality
With the ringing
Of the front door bell
A friend calling
For a cup of tea and a chat
So my rambling
Is over for this day
In April
Just when the birds are singing
A beautiful melody
