At Play

My house is located not too far from trees
Many morning I may just sit and listen to the breeze rustling the leaves
But one morning I was awaken to a sound
Of the dogs barking, looking up in the trees, from ground

It was some monkeys and they were having fun
Jumping from branch in the light of the morning sun
Whilst were happily swing from those hanging Vines
Reminiscent like Tarzan in those movie times

As the dogs kept barking, snarling showing those teeth
The made more noise, knowing they were out of reach
Those youthful ones now inexperienced yes ful of exuberance
Would come a bit nearer, but retreated in an instance

Later in the day as I looked over at my neighbor's house
There was this sight that I found so amusing
They were all jammed into his children trampoline
Bouncing up and down, and one could see their eyes beaming

Something which I saw that brought back memories again
I remember how I would tease the hen, with her chicken
A little monkey was having fun doing the same thing
What laughter to me this sight again bring

He came back and touched the little chicken again and again
She chased him, he would run around, as she got closer up the tree quickly climbing
But once his mother made her appearance
He hurried to her with such a look of Innocence

But what did I come to observe that day
It was hard now to see any children at play
So if those primates did not put on that display
Another empty day would have gone on its way
