Those Far Pavilions
Those far pavilions of our dreams
Are never really ours, it seems.
Foxfire dancing in the distance;
Yet we seek them, with persistence!
Focused on the job in hand,
We chart the contours of the land.
Never taken by surprise;
No mirage can fool our keen eyes!
Nature playing foolish games;
Silhouettes of flickering flames.
Still we see our own true goal
Burning deep within our soul!
We keep the faith and tell ourselves
No empty dreams lay on our shelves.
Delusions are for poorer souls,
Getting lost down rabbit holes!
Those far pavilions of our dreams
Are never really ours, it seems.
Foxfire dancing in the distance;
Yet we seek them, with persistence!
