I don't have much
Born the poorest of poor
Always had a roof over my head
Mom had rent out of her paycheck
Dad could not take the roof
But there were times we only ate school lunches
Lately I have been seeing so much poverty
Most is alcoholism drugs
But it is not the children
So a few years back I checked my wallet
Now and then I would have a dollar or two
I began slowly giving money to Mom
I would say start a jar for college
I started to find it all came back
One time I gave a five to two kids
Came home and in the mail was a unexpected
check from an insurance policy
I needed it badly the car broke down
Last week I was at Ace Hardware
The clerk was giving me five for change
A little girl looked up I want that for Mom
She was pointing at a small boxed Amaru's flower
Mom was apologetic but I gave her the five
Walked outside and two five dollar bills lay
on the ground in front of my door
And least you think, Mom was still in the store
Mom always said do good it comes back double
I was at the Casino losing and about to leave
The man next to me leaned down and said
"Sir, This twenty was on the ground next to you."
I said because you were honest--here it is yours!"
My last pull went nuts $400.00
I believe in giving comes back twofold or more
I had a dream last night a poor little boy
I woke up knowing I am not rich but can give
All i have given in life has come back double
