Who would have thought that such a mighty tree
With roots so firmly fixed would one day fall?
Who would have thought that one day you and me
Would part and say goodby once and for all?
But somehow it seems apt that it's now flat
And lying dying where it once stood proud -
This tree beneath whose branches we once sat
And pledged so much away from daily crowd.
The future looked like it would never end,
Foundations deep beyond a question mark,
But all belief I find I now suspend,
No longer judge a tree just by its bark.
A fallen tree, a broken heart, love lost.
Two lives into oblivion now tossed.
