From the Heart Through the Pen

yosph
My Defense System

I built these walls
So it was invincible
Failsafe is what
It's supposed to be
They told me there was no need
For a lifetime guarantee

I was the spokesperson
That helped sell my version to many
When along came she
The first malfunction occurred
Y'all it was quite absurd

I passed so many dimes
Without a second glance
Others asked me to give them a chance
This I was able to disregard
But with her it's different
I didn't get a warning alarm

Not even a little hint
I had to reread the label
Yup it says unit is indestructible
Wait there's some fine print
Not intended to be used against
Those that tilt the charts
She basically rocks the scale

My defenses temporarily disabled
She's now able to conversate
With my heart and my mind
Both at the same time
I speak but my breath escaped
She smiles at me
Amazingly I smile back

Now for her I hunger
I mean she has me intrigued
I feel me looking at myself bewildered
Weren't you there for the conference
Haven't you heard
This type of interaction is off limits

Y'all don't know she raises my spirits
The tunes I hear when I'm in her presence
I had the state of the art defense
Have we suffered a meltdown
Brought by this pretty, fine brown skin

What a journey we're about to start
The ride we're about to partake in
Wouldn't you know it
In her True Beauty I'm basking
Everyday she's more breathtaking
