From Heart to Heart

I'm a native Floridian. I grew up in Ft Lauderdale, on the edge of the Everglades Swamp. Today Lauderdale is just another huge tourist trap. But back when I was a kid there was still plenty of undeveloped land to explore. I have many pleasant memories of sunny days full of fun and adventure. Actually my childhood was not terribly unlike that of Mark Twain's, "Tom Sawyer". Read my poem "Child of the Sunmmer Breeze", then you might get an idea how I feel about it

Unlike Tom Sawyer though I fished, boated, swam, and explored the swampy woods around the New River and Evergalades.

But as I said, the undeveloped areas of my youth have now been replaced with six lane highways, tall condominiums, open golf courses, and people packed malls. People and traffic and congestion. Those are the reasons I moved away from Ft. Lauderdale.

Today I work for the Department of Environmental Protection, and live in Northern Florida close to the St. Johns River where there are still places that remind me of when I was a kid.

As far as my poetry, I'd really like to spend more time writing. I enjoy it very much. But as of now I can only write when I find the time, and the urge hits me.

If you like my poetry please check back to read any new poems I might have found the time to compose. I do welcome any comments you might have.

Thanks all!

Thanks again for visiting
