Life Before The Tech Age
Tatum's Towns Too Trustful To Try Throwbacks
an observation of a world too dependent on high tech...
Life Before The Tech Age
Long before the age of tech,
before the Internet,
we spent our time with neighbors,
under sprinklers, getting wet.
Computers were the stuff of books,
and sci-fi magazines.
They hardly got a second thought
beyond our early teens.
Instead of mouses, we had games,
libraries, bikes and tools.
During summers, some went hiking,
some enjoyed the pools.
The world around us was all real,
and three-dimensional.
When someone had to laugh out loud,
it was intentional!
There never was a mobile phone
to keep us all “in touch”,
or occupy our “outdoor” time
as a “third leg”, or a crutch.
According to some evidence
from one who understands,
some kids no longer know the time
by reading clocks with hands.
While growing in technology,
a part of us got lost.
The part that used imagination,
a trait some of us tossed.
Old school techniques are much in need
when power is shut down.
Without computers up and running,
we're in a crippled town.
When will the new world turn around
and make friends with the old?
It's sad to watch an era die,
of which we've lost our hold.
