BIRD  HAVEN

THE APPLE TREE IN THE FRONT YARD,
IS AS CROOKED AS CAN BE.

I REALLY LIKE IT THAT WAY
IT HAS CHARACTER , YOU SEE.

IT SEEMS TO ME THE BIRDS LIKE IT TOO.
THEY SIT AND SING PRETTY SONGS TO YOU

WE KEEP THE SEEDS AND WATER THERE
IT'S AS THOUGH THEY KNOW WE REALLY CARE

SOMETIMES A SQUIRREL WILL JOIN THE BUNCH
AND FEAST ON SUNFLOWER SEEDS FOR LUNCH,

SOMETIMES HE GETS A LITTLE DARING
AND RESENTS THE NEED FOR HIM TO BE SHARING

BUT ALL THE LITTLE BIRDS DON'T CARE
SINCE MR. STARLING WILL CHASE HIM OUT OF THERE

I SIT ON MY SWING AND WATCH THE SHOW
THEY DON'T SEEM TO CARE IF I STAY OR GO

THERE'S A LOT TO B E SAID ABOUT GODS LITTLE CREATURES
THEY COULD, IN A WAY, BE OUR LITTLE TEACHERS
