Torn From the Pages of My Heart

A First In The City

Old, gasping innocence
flicker and die
in the vivacity
of edifices
flashing in the sun
belittling, taunting
to fall upon
the pride in me.
The buzz in my ear
are of steel now
threatening
to blow me to bits.
Every brisk step,
or staggering feet
urge me
to make way
to hurry.
Everyone... everything
envelopes me,
a little spec.

Loneliness... my vulnerability.
