the fort

we got a board from here;
and a nail from there:
my brother and me we scrounged anything that was around to build a fort:
of things of many sorts:

we searched the town:
we built our fort up from the ground:
it was our pride and joy when we were just boys:

the fort that we built:
not even an earth quake could tilt:
10,000 nails we probably put in there;
that fort we built with so much care:

we spent all day making our fort the best:
and we slept in there and got our rest:
we thought about the fort every day and night;
we wouldnt stop until we got it right:

we painted it white with a bright yellow door;
when people saw our fort it they adored;
that fort meant the world to my brother and me;
built it with pride you could see;

we got a board from here:
and a nail from there:
wall to wall carpet was all around:
everyone knew we had the best fort in town:

it was our pride and joy;
when we were just boys:
the fort meant the world to my brother and me:
and we built it together with pride you could see;

we built it so strong we made it to last;
the fort is the foundation of my past:
my mom and dad were so proud of what we did:
and me and my brother brian were just kids:

we had our pet duck and pigeons and our rabbits too:
there was always something for us to do:
we lived in our fort with our heads held high:
we had the best fort in town no one could deny;
