MESA TRIBE

THERE'S A MESA IN THE DESERT
WHERE INDIANS LIVE ON TOP
THERE'S A TRAIL THAT LEADS TO THE BOTTOM
WHERE THEY GET WATER AND PLANT A CROP

THEY'RE PRETTY SAFE FROM DANGER
THEIR PONIES  LIVE UP THERE TOO.
THEIR HOMES ARE MADE OF ADOBE BRICK
UNDER A SKY OF BLUE.

THEY HAVE ADOBE OVENS, TO DO THEIR COOKING IN.
THE MESA STRETCHES A GOOD LONG MILE
THE CHIEF IS HEAD OF THE TRIBE
THEY'VE BEEN THERE A LONG, LONG WHILE

THE MEN GO DOWN TO GO HUNTING
THE WOMEN PLANT THE CORN
THEY HAUL WATER FROM A LITTLE STREAM,
FROM EARLY IN THE MORN.

THEY LEAD A VERY SIMPLE LIFE
IT'S HARD FROM THE VERY START
BUT THEY'RE CONTENT TO LIVE THERE
WITH EVERYONE DOING THEIR PART.
