Where does love go when it dies
No longer the playful puppy or the beauty in its beholders eye
When the heat of summer love has now waxed cold
And the fresh scent of spring has grown old
Where does love go, does it change with each season
Does it pass with the time without rhyme or reason
After Cupids arrows have lost their sting
And the birds sit in trees but no longer sing
When a ride along the coast is just a long drive
Or the music in the hills are no longer alive
Has the heartbeat of love began to fade
When the sight of the sunrise is just the absence of shade
And the sunset brings thoughts of another cold night
Can love be alive with no evidence in sight
When kind words are few and far in between
And that sparkle in the eye is no longer seen
As passion gives way to obligation what comes next
True love making is reduced to mere sex
When alone time is exactly that
Awake in bed laying back to back
Can love be revived or strengthened by romance
Can it be resurrected and have another chance
Some say love doesn’t die in this we must trust
But if love doesn’t die what happened to us
