Today I called an old friend and asked her why I hadn't heard from her. She and her husband had played bridge with Milt and me every week for more than ten years. She said she knew she was wrong, but couldn't call me because she was afraid I would tell her that Milt died. Then she told me how busy she was, and I hung up the phone.
I felt badly about hanging up the phone, so half an hour later, I called her back and told her, "I don't understand -- did I ask you for a favor? Did I ask you to do something for me?"
She said, "No, of course you didn't." We talked for a while. She apologized again and told me how badly she felt about Milt's illness. Then we said goodbye. I probably won't hear from her for a long time.
This evening, Pastor Linda sent me a beautiful note. I went to her website, read her poetry, and listened to "You Raise Me Up," which is one of the most heartwarming songs I have ever heard. Then I found "You Raise Me Up" on the Internet and embedded it to this site.
It's strange, but much earlier today I had thought about writing a poem which I would title "Words of Comfort." I wanted to dedicate the poem to all of my friends at Poetrypoem who are never too busy to send comforting words to me.
I didn't write the poem. Instead, I just want to tell you how much I love you. May God bless you.
